First Ever Professional Eating Hamantaschen Event

There is a first for everything – and El Al and All Pro Eating just proved that this applies to eating contests.  On March 8, in front of the a live audience, these two organizations sponsored the first ever Hamantaschan Eating Championship! Non-professional eaters were able to submit videos on the El Al Facebook page to show their eating abilities.  10 finalists were then notified on March 3 and were welcomed to the championship competition on March 8th that took place in New York City.

Todd “The Hungry Genious” Greenwald, chairman of All Pro Eating, who emceed the event said,

"This championship will result in the first ever National Hamantaschen Eating Record."

The first place winner managed to eat 14 cookies in 5 minutes, winning a free roundtrip flight to Israel.  Had this winner beat “The Champ,” they would have earned a second roundtrip ticket to Israel.

Of course, professional eaters have that title for a reason. Will, “The Champ” Millender devoured 25 cookies in the same amount of time.  All eaters were given six minutes to eat as many of the kosher Borenstein Caterers, Inc. hamantaschen as they could get down.  The event was in honor of the Jewish festival of Purim. And what an event it was!
