Gowanus County Fair Brings Best of Brooklyn to the Public Eye

Come to the Gowanus County Fair

The Fourth Annual Spring Craft Market, better known as the Gowanus County Fair, will be held at the Brooklyn Lyceum on Saturday and Sunday, May 5th and 6th from 11am to 6pm. The fair is always a great place to explore the special culture of Brooklyn with the perfect mix of arts, music, crafts, theater and an additional helping of workshops, classes and pizza. And of course elephant ears.

The Brave New World Repertory will be presenting their special brand of theater, while Mike Block’s G.A.L.A. will play their music. Upwards of 50 Brooklyn artisans will present their wares, a direct affront to the ongoing challenges of the prolonged recession the country has been dealing with in recent years. In many ways the Gowanus County Fair represents the best of Brooklyn, creating its own economic reality with the presentation of many old favorite vendors, and a lot of new ones, too.

Wander downstairs to the Lyceum Café and order fresh, custom-made pizza. Want a cup of coffee to go along with it? Try out the exclusive Intelligentsia brand. Bacon cheddar biscuits and excruciatingly fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth waffles are also on hand to delight your taste buds.

The Lyceum is at 227 4th Avenue in Gowanus/Park Slope. Experience the fun and excitement of a county fair right here in Brooklyn; get to know your artistic neighbors better; buy some exquisite crafts; listen to great music and enjoy intelligent theater at the Gowanus County Fair.
