Brooklyn Heights Welcomes New Supermarket

You wouldn’t think that a grocery story would create such a stir – but indeed it has! The grand opening of the Foodtown Supermarket at the corner of Clinton and Joralemon streets on Friday (at 101 Clinton Street) was so well attended that the planned noon opening turned into an earlier one. The crowds started to line up at 8am, four hours before the planned opening. Owner Nasri Mujalli and his brother Moe made sure to make it a really special day with all sorts of free giveaways from ice cream and juices to sandwiches.

As Councilmember Lincoln Restler said, “I am thrilled to welcome Foodtown to the heart of Brooklyn Heights. I went to school across the street, and I’ve seen many different establishments and small businesses here over the years. I can’t think of anybody better than Foodtown.”

The new store includes the Green Way private label brand of natural and organic items. It also has products from family-owned companies such as Bob’s Red Mill. It is certainly an exciting new development for the area.
