Brooklyn to Host Inaugural Powerhouse International Arts Festival

The Powerhouse International Arts Festival is scheduled to take place this fall at Powerhouse Arts in Brooklyn. The event, curated by David Binder, will run from September 18th to December 7th and will feature a variety of performances from artists across the globe.

The festival will include the U.S. premieres of several works. Brazilian artist Carolina Bianchi and the Cara de Cavalo collective will present “The Bride and the Goodnight Cinderella.” Choreographer Soa Ratsifandrihana from France and Madagascar will perform “Gasy,” a dance piece. Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos will bring “Larsen C,” a recent recipient of the Rose International Dance Prize.

Other scheduled performances include “Skatepark,” a collaboration between choreographer Mette Ingvartsen and local skateboarders; “The Imagining,” a dance event led by Amari Marshall; “Sibyl,” a music and theater piece by William Kentridge; “Worktable,” an interactive installation by Kate McIntosh; “Good Sex,” a play by Dead Centre and Emilie Pine; and “Theatre of Dreams,” a dance event by Hofesh Schechter.

The festival plans to offer 10,000 tickets at a price of $30 each. Additional details about the performances are expected to be released in the coming weeks on the festival’s website.
