Movies Under the Stars

Is there any better way to spend a summer night than watching a movie in the park under the stars?

This year’s “Showtime in the Park” is taking place in Fort Greene Park and Prospect Park over the course of two months. The series of free film showings began with the kickoff movie on July 7 at Fort Greene Park, and will continue there for the next three consecutive Thursday nights. The event will then move to Wednesday nights for four weeks at Prospect Park’s Long Meadow, beginning on August 3.

The chosen movies are a feel-good classics and family favorites, with common themes focusing on determination, friendship, family, empowerment, fantasy, and more. Some of the feature films include West Side Story, Back to the Future, and Clue.

The outdoor movie series event is made possible by Showtime®, in partnership with Brooklyn Magazine, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, Fort Greene Park Conservancy, and Prospect Park Alliance.

Be sure to grab a blanket and popcorn, and bring the whole family to enjoy some wholesome entertainment!
