We weren’t in Coney or Brighton Beach yesterday, but we’re going to say that it’s safe to assume that it might have been slightly more impressive over by the water than it was further inland. At least, there was significant gloom. This is the view (or lack thereof) in Brighton Beach.

Bklink: Shopping in Brighton Beach
September 2nd, 2008 · No Comments
One of the more interesting things to do in Brighton Beach, if you’re up to it, is to go food shopping. My favorite store is M & I International Food, right on the main drag and across the street from the elevated train…It is fun just to walk around and see all of the food. [...]

July 23rd, 2008 · No Comments
Finally, someone is doing a Brighton Beach blog! Little ‘Rus, which we found courtesy of one of our other favorite area blogs, Sheepshead Bites, has been around for about a month and offer some eclectic coverage of the neighborhood from food (we learned about pelmeni) to development. While the former is interesting, the latter is [...]

This is the Royal Palace, a banya in Brighton Beach (or on the edge of Coney Island if one prefers that definition of the location. We found it via Flatbush Pigeon and were immediately mesmerized. "Symbol of Luxury": Mini Dachshund Puppies
April 25th, 2008 · 5 Comments
Do you have your mini dachshund puppy? They are, after all, symbols of luxury. We found this flier posted in Brighton Beach. So, if mini dachshunds in unique color patterns and colors are symbolically luxurious, what are chihuahuas? In any case, they sure are cute in those photos, symbols of luxury or not.

Brighton Beach Boardwalk Just as Crappy in Places as Coney’s
January 7th, 2008 · No Comments
With Coney Island in the news this week because of theatrics at the public presentation of the city’s proposed zoning changes and plans, we thought we’d turn our attention again to the subject of the disgraceful condition of the boardwalk itself. We’ve focused on it from time to time over the last two years, and [...]
