Air Yeezy 2 Creating Shoe-Buying Chaos

If you start to see kids lining the streets of Brooklyn in the next few days and camping out — you may just want to stay out of their way. You certainly don’t want to get between a boy and his sneakers. Saturday, stores around Brooklyn (and the rest of the world) are bracing for the arrival of the Air Yeezy 2. This is Kayne West’s latest shoe design from Nike, and fans are desperate to get their hands on a pair.

Pre-order sales on eBay have been absolutely insane, with some prices as high as $80,700 — for a pair of shoes.   While this outlier seems preposterously excessive, the typical bids on eBay were in the $3000-$5000 bracket.

Should you find a way to beat the crowds, you’ll see the official retail price for the Air Yeezy 2 set out $245.   The Air Yeezy 2 is the sister shoe to the 2009 Air Yeezy.   It was actually designed for Kayne’s narrow foot and it’s slimmer than the original version.

As Nike has explained on its website, the shoe is designed to bring us back to the classic look of the 1980s basketball shoe — but not the classic price of a pair, for sure.
