Will Carroll Gardens Be Happy or Sad About Real World Brooklyn?

July 15th, 2008 · 4 Comments

Is that sound we hear in the distance Carroll Gardens residents massing to dip torches in kerosene and ready pitchforks to march on 116 Third Place. Well, maybe not yet, because the official word hasn’t come and the reality hasn’t sunken in. Back when the Downtown BellTel Lofts won the right to be the site of the taping of MTV’s Real World Brooklyn, there was almost a collective sigh of relief. Then, yesterday, Brownstoner reported that because of construction delays at BellTel, the Real World production crew had set its sights again on the Carroll Gardens building on Third Place. (Why this process has never really touched Williamsburg, we’ll never understand.) The Real Deal followed up with a report that equipment has already been transported to the Carroll Gardens location. Something tells us this the taping from August through Fall is not going to take place without some neighbors getting upset.

I Live in CG and it is cool with me. No big deal they are filming everyday in BoCoCa anyway.

MTV hires Non Union Crews. I suspect Viacom will be seeing many rubber rats. The taping will take place INSIDE this building so don’t expect generators day and night. They usually have the “booth” inside whatever loacation they are at, but, if not, expect a trailer somewhere in the vicinity with a generator. I, if I have to see it or hear it will have my phone on speed dail to 311. Viacom, get a fing union contract you cheap bastards.

the CA in BoCoCa is Carroll Gardens you dope. It’s a ridiculous name given by RE vultures who are drawing in the horrible tourists and transplants to what was once a great hood. So sad to see what has happened to the real Brooklyn.

union labor would be great. it’d make them take 4 years to tape instead of 4 months…
